Jenn Lyon, Taran Killam, and Kristin Chenoweth star in NBC’s new mockumentary comedy Stumble, a fresh take on the competitive world of college cheerleading filled with both humor and heartache.
The show follows Courteney Potter, a celebrated cheerleading coach played with dry wit by Jenn Lyon (Claws), who loses her job at Sammy Davis Sr. Junior College in Wichita Flats, Texas. The dismissal comes after a viral video of a victory party involving alcohol and the squad, along with Courteney presenting a “Best Booty” award, sparks controversy.
Courteney then takes a coaching position at a junior college in the fictional town of Heådltston, Oklahoma, which is known only for its candy-button factory and notably lacks a cheer team. The town’s name itself is a running joke, as no one can pronounce it correctly.
Only the first two episodes were available for review, but the series shows promise with its sharp humor and unique setting.
