Nick Lieberman, director of the 2023 mockumentary Theater Camp, is set to direct his next feature, a cosmic romantic comedy titled That Time We Met. The film stars Pete Davidson (“Saturday Night Live,” “The Pickup”) and Ella Purnell (“Fallout,” “Yellowjackets”).
The screenplay is written by Mitchell Winkie, known for the 2021 rom-com The Ultimate Playlist of Noise. WME Independent is handling sales for the project, which will debut at the American Film Market (AFM).
“The story follows a new couple that discovers their unborn child is destined to save the future of humanity. The only problem is they’ve just had their first date and now they fucking hate each other.”
This will be Lieberman’s second feature film as a director, following his well-received debut with Theater Camp, co-directed with Molly Gordon.
