Batting first, Pakistan began with a fierce opening over. Abdul Samad hit a six off the second ball from Yasin Patel, who also conceded three wides under pressure. Khawaja Nafay quickly followed with a six on his first delivery, helping Pakistan score 26 runs in the opening over.
