A McDonalds branch on the busy Newmarket Road in Cambridge is applying to extend its opening hours from 7am–11pm to 6am–11pm daily. This would add one extra hour of operation in the morning.
The branch has previously tried twice to extend its hours but was refused.
On behalf of McDonalds, Savills submitted the application emphasizing that the earlier opening hour would not cause unacceptable disturbance to local residents.
“This application simply seeks to extend the trading hours by an additional hour from that which is currently approved. We therefore anticipate that the proposal is entirely acceptable in terms of the extra hour of operation in the early morning trading period as no complaints have been received.”
According to Savills, the earlier opening time would bring economic advantages by accommodating the bulk of customers who arrive early.
The extended hours aim to better serve customer demand while aligning with surrounding businesses' trading patterns.
