Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
In recognition of their service and sacrifice, TransLink will honor veterans and active military personnel by offering free transit on Tuesday, November 11, Remembrance Day.
Who is Eligible for Free Transit
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
Eligible individuals can access free transit by presenting their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or by appearing in uniform.
Transit Access Details
- Veterans and other eligible customers do not need to tap their Compass Card on buses and HandyDART trips.
- Accessible fare gates at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open from 8 a.m.
Additional Observances
TransLink also recognizes National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, honoring Indigenous veterans for their sacrifices and contributions to peace and security worldwide.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to travel to and from Remembrance Day ceremonies across the region.
