A new country will officially join the Abraham Accords, the series of normalization agreements between Israel and various Muslim-majority nations, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy announced on Thursday, Anadolu reports.
Steve Witkoff, the US Special Envoy to the Middle East, revealed the plan during a business forum in Miami, Florida. Although he did not specify which country would join, he confirmed the announcement would be made Thursday evening at an event in Washington.
“I’m flying back to Washington tonight because we’re going to announce tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords,” Witkoff said.
The Abraham Accords were initially signed during President Trump's first term, establishing normalization agreements between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries.
Related developments include calls from a former EU envoy urging Brussels to maintain sanctions threats against Israel.
