The White House is set to reveal that another nation will soon establish diplomatic relations with Israel as part of the Abraham Accords, according to President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.
"I'm flying back to Washington tonight because we're going to announce, tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords," said Witkoff at the America Business Forum in Miami.
The Abraham Accords, initiated during Trump’s first presidential term in 2020, facilitated the normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab countries. This initiative reshaped Middle Eastern diplomacy by breaking long-standing taboos around formal recognition of Israel.
However, critics argue that the accords have deepened Palestinian isolation by dismantling the collective Arab stance that recognition of Israel should come only after tangible progress in the peace process. Many Palestinians view these agreements as a betrayal by Arab nations that once pledged to support their quest for independence and demand Israel’s withdrawal from territories occupied after 1948.
The White House plans to announce a new nation’s participation in the Abraham Accords, continuing Trump’s regional normalization policy while stirring renewed debate over its impact on Palestinians.
