Shock as Major Nine Star Quits After Two Decades
9News Melbourne will bid farewell to one of its most beloved weather presenters this November. Livinia Nixon, who has been with the network since 1997 and the face of 9News Melbourne weather since 2004, announced she will step down on November 18.

The 50-year-old presenter revealed her decision on Friday, expressing her wish to focus on her family as her sons enter senior school years.
"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role," she said. "My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."
Reflection on Her Career
Livinia reflected on how the role has influenced her life and career, emphasizing the importance of this personal decision.
"Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me," she said. "When I discussed it with our boys, they said, 'We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.'"
Future with Nine Network
Though stepping down from her weekday weather presenting duties, Livinia Nixon will remain with the Nine Network in other capacities.
