After two decades as the weather presenter for 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon has announced she will be stepping down from this role while continuing her other commitments with Nine.
Livinia Nixon joined the Nine Network in 1997 and took on the 9News Melbourne weather presenter role in 2004. Her final weather bulletin will air on Tuesday, 18 November.
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
She explained that the decision comes as her two sons enter their senior years of schooling, and she wants to support them during this important time.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them,” Nixon said.
Though stepping back from nightly weather presenting, Livinia will continue her appearances on Nine’s featured travel shows, Getaway and Postcards.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she said.
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
She expressed enthusiasm about remaining with Nine and continuing her work on these programs.
Livinia Nixon concludes her 20-year tenure as 9News Melbourne's weather presenter to focus on family, while maintaining her presence on Nine’s travel shows.
