Former NFL star Antonio Brown was extradited from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to the United States to stand trial for an attempted murder charge related to a shooting in Miami earlier this year.
Miami police confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Brown, 37, is currently being held in Essex County, New Jersey, as he awaits extradition to Miami-Dade County. The exact time of his apprehension and transfer to Miami-Dade remains unclear.
“This is just another example of the relentless work and dedication of Miami Police detectives, working closely with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshals to identify and arrest those who commit crimes in the City of Miami,” police stated.
Brown faces an attempted murder charge stemming from a May 16 incident during a boxing event hosted by influencer Adin Ross. The former All-Pro wide receiver had been living in Dubai for the past few months, as evidenced by his Instagram posts.
Following his extradition, authorities have yet to disclose plans for his transfer to Miami-Dade.
