At a friend's house, a large cardboard cutout of Captain Jean-Luc Picard warmly welcomed us. I followed Wil Wheaton, who played Wesley Crusher, on social media well into my twenties. Interestingly, my son is named Wesley — though my husband insists it’s after explorer John Wesley Powell.
