The veteran actor and comedian Dan Aykroyd, best known for iconic roles in Ghostbusters and Coneheads, shares his fascination with the mysterious and paranormal. Each episode of The UnBelievable explores the “strangest-but-true stories in human history” using dramatic reenactments, archival footage, and insights from experts. The Season 3 premiere, titled Strange Sightings, covers eerie topics such as rumors of menacing clowns in suburban neighborhoods and hauntings along “America’s Most Haunted Highway.”
“That was one of my favorites. I had heard about the I-4 highway story before the researchers proposed it for the show. I thought, ‘wow, this is a real thing.’ People I had spoken to many years ago told me this story.”
Aykroyd admits he was captivated by the haunted Florida I-4 highway story featured in the premiere. His connection to tales of the supernatural is long-standing, extending beyond his acting roles into his family heritage of spiritualists.
“As for the clowns, I still don’t know, man. The fact there was this rumor in suburban America, and these clowns were appearing everywhere. Very haunting, very eerie, very creepy.”
Aykroyd emphasizes that the mystery of the bizarre clown sightings remains unresolved, adding to the eerie atmosphere that defines the series. His sincere curiosity about these strange phenomena echoes his lifelong interest in the unseen and unexplained.
